Were back from our 4-day trek of the Inca Trail. Final destination: Machu Picchu. The trek is not for pussies; easily it was the hardest physical thing Ive ever done, from the ascent on day 2 to the first mountain pass (~13,000 ft, with little oxygen to breathe) followed by the gringo killer, kilometer after kilometer of joint-crushing, jagged granite steps. One false move and youre in a plaster cast for the rest of vacay. The good stuff? Hands down, the most spectacular natural scenery that any of us have ever seen. Both snow-capped and cloud/fog-enshrouded mountains, rain forests, cloud forests, orchids and flowers and exotic species galore. Completing the trek was definitely the triumph, but the video below was the reward--the most awe-inspiring panorama EVER!
