Were nearing Christmas and the tradition states that three wise men brought gifts to the newborn child, who is Jesus. Beyond the gifts, and the secular reasons for loving Christmas, the symbol that most represents Christmas, and the Christian life is The Star. Stars, for me, have always represented hope, optimism, and dreams for the future. After the storms of life have destroyed everything we hold dear and were in for a gloomy night, the Star brings light, comfort, and healing. By that Star of Bethlehem, we have faith after a fall, and we are finally able to love with empathy and deep compassion towards the entire human race. Where once our prideful dreams became our idols, the Star in its beauty, each one of them handmade by God Himself reminds us to pursue dreams with humility and a belief that all things work for the good for those who serve Him dutifully. The eight-pointed star of Bethlehem is the perfect symbol for the Nativity, its an ideal guide for the lost and foolish amongst us, really for the entire human race. We ourselves must be like the stars shining light into a darkened world and being the guides of men who are lost.
