Were on our way home passing through Stockton, California. A - TopicsExpress

Were on our way home passing through Stockton, California. A rather sad and spooky image peeks back at us passerby traveling ones as we motor through the city center of this bankrupt northern California town. The place called Stockton has been transformed to the mournful state of Ghost Town. Though the streets and sidewalks, even the out of the way alleyways and shadowy places of downtown are perfectly in order and seemingly well kept, there is an eery feel to the once thriving place. Its as if a vast and horrific Creature of dystopia-like proportions stomped through and left vacant all remnant traces of man and woman kind - In the wake of complex financial ruin, a disastrous economic armageddon has left these Stockton streets in a zero population mode, yet paradoxically maintaining an outwardly facade of functionally forever - frozen in time. Peering down the rather charming appeal of this downtown USA, Im reminded of an empty Hollywood backdrop where facade cutout buildings and mockery retail shops form illusionary messages of eternal home town bliss - This Stockton Midtown reminds me of those science fiction movies where the future is depicted in visual terms of the end of the Earth as we know it or the land where zombies dwell, awaiting their night time carnage - but wait - this last specimen of Omega Man - even he is not there. What is there, though, are. Large multiple-story buildings which were once probably the offices of financial institutions -they stand silent, hollow and empty. The streets and alley ways are spotless - oddly none of the typical debris as usually seen in city ghettos where bad economic times have take their toll. Shop windows and heavy glass doorways lead into abandoned alcoves of spic-n-spam cleanliness - and yet, there are none of the tell-tale effects which are indicative that people have actually been here. Driving through Stockton leaves an afterthought of a dwindling kind; its odd implications about our times of current - its but one of those places where people once lived, worked and had dreams for a better tomorrow.
