Were so proud of our Dad!!! The tragic events of this past month took their toll on him and Adrianne and I feared the worst was not too far in the future. He fought the battle with cancer alongside Mom ... and we thought surely that we were winning that battle until the shock of suddenly finding out that we werent and her passing on June 12. Battle weary and in deep sadness, Dad came down with pneumonia and was hospitalized for a few days last week. He came home Thursday, worn down and weak ... and somewhat discouraged. Friday afternoon, I asked Dad What happened to the Daddy that used to live here? ... the fighter, the man who never gave up? Then I said, We lost our Mom ... we dont want to lose our Dad, too. Whether that question did the trick or not, whos to say, but by Saturday morning, Dad was on his feet ... gaining strength, mustering his old fighting spirit, and determined to get himself back to normal again. A couple of nights a lady came in and stayed overnight to make sure he was okay while Adri and I went to our homes but Dad has decided that he wants to try to make it on his own ... once again, we must remind ourselves that Adrianne and I are still the children and Dad is still the boss. As long as he maintains his strength and determination, hes quite capable of making his own decisions. After what Ive seen of his stamina the past two days ... Im totally convinced that Dad is STILL a mighty War Horse!!! Like I said before, Adrianne and I are VERY PROUD OF OUR DAD!!!
