Westbound doing every bit of 70mph rolls by River Road outside of Wilmington IL on 1-31-14. The mains are about 100 feet apart here and elevated. This location is within the Des Plaines Conservation area and is open to the public. The Game Wardens are accustomed to see railfans here and will give you a friendly wave. Im standing on the road taking this shot. You take exit 240 off I-55 and head west half mile to crossing. Restroom facilities are another quarter mile beyond the crossing. there are shooting ranges out there so dont be alarmed if you here shots going off. There is limited parking on the north side of the crossing but hardly anyone goes there.
