Western Tangkhul student community lauds Ukhrul, Aug 22: The western Tangkhul student community Ukhrul district lauded the state governments announcement for upgradation of Lungchong Maiphai block to full-fledged sub-divisional status during the recently concluded Manipur Legislative Assembly session. Zingtun Tangkhul Katamnao Long (ZTKL) and Sagolmang Area Naga Student’s Association (SANSA) appreciated the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh; Deputy Speaker MK Preshow Shimray and others for the initiative. The ZTKL president, AC Thotso said that the people in the areas have endured much hardship for last several years and added that upgradation of LM Block would ease the region to a great extent. In 1983, the Governor of Manipur passed an order of setting up a block in the area, but the office was inaugurated only in 2006 by CM Okram Ibobi Singh.
