Wet weather sees NSW SES crews respond to storm jobs 24 June 2013, 8:07AM AET A trough and low pressure system off the NSW coast is bringing widespread rainfall to parts of eastern NSW – including the Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong areas. The NSW SES has attended to approximately 144 jobs this morning, mostly for roof and tree damage. The severe weather off the NSW coast is bringing localised heavy rain to central and southern parts of the coast. The majority of heavy rainfall has been around the Sydney Metropolitan and Illawarra area. At this time isolated showers are remaining over eastern districts and rainfall easing in the far northeast. There are snow falls on the Alps and snow showers on higher parts of the central and northern ranges. The Bureau of Meteorology advises that the low pressure system should cross the coast late in the afternoon to early evening today bringing widespread heavy rainfall and gale force winds around 65 km/h with peak gusts of 100 km/h to the Sydney Metropolitan and Illawarra areas. Another Severe Weather Warning for Lord Howe Island has been issued by the Bureau of Metrology this morning, surrounding areas are asked to prepare for flash flooding and damaging winds.
