Weve been asked to give a huge THANK YOU to the folk who donated to Arrans kilt walk fund, for Ailsas appeal, after reading our recent post. :-) For those of you who didnt see this when we posted earlier in the week, here is Arran (and his Mum)s letter: My name is Arran. I am five and a half years old. I live with my little sister Eilidh and my Mummy and Daddy. I go to Busby primary school. I am in primary 1. I am going to raise money by doing a kilt walk for charity. That means I walk for six miles without stopping. That is the same as walking to school six times in a row. I am raising money because my cousin Ailsa, who is four, is not well. She needs something called a bone marrow transplant to make her better. The people who help get the medicine need money to keep going. My mummy and I have talked about my fund-raising strategy. A strategy is another word for plan. My Daddy told me a story about a man called Barak Obama. He is the President of the United States and he lives in Washington DC. He managed to become the President because he asked everybody to give him one dollar. My mummy says I should also ask a lot of people for a small amount of money. This will make a big difference to the charities that help Ailsa. This is why I wrote this letter. virginmoneygiving/teamailsasbairns Thank you Arran Culley Arran is doing a Kilt Walk thekiltwalk.co.uk/main/ around the shores of Loch Lomond at the end of April. He hopes to raise money for Scottish children’s charities, including Yorkhill Hospital, where my god-daughter Ailsa is currently receiving treatment for aplastic anaemia (a rare and life-threatening blood disease). It would be great if you could sponsor Arran as much or as little as you can. 50% of the money raised will go to the Anthony Nolan Trust, the UKs blood cancer charity and bone marrow register. Whether or not you sponsor Arran, you might consider joining the register anthonynolan.org/ You can hear more about Ailsa and all the fundraising efforts on Ailsa’s Appeal facebook page. Thanks Lisa (Arran’s mum)
