Weve been kind of quiet lately and for good reason. I suffered - TopicsExpress

Weve been kind of quiet lately and for good reason. I suffered some pregnancy complications with the twins and am now in the hospital on bed rest until their due date of June 24th. Send up some prayers for us that the babies stay put four more weeks. In the meantime, farm life doesnt stop and Duanes father flew in from Connecticut to help him with our daughter and around the farm. The six varieties of peas, five varieties of lettuce, four varieties of carrots and two varieties of parsnips are growing well so far. We are a little late getting things in the ground this year and didnt have much time to plant seed starts, so we are doing what we can with what we have and praying extra hard this year. Today Duane and his dad got 14 kinds of heirloom beans planted. Some of them are green beans, some are things like black-eyed peas and cowpeas. We will see which ones grow and which ones dont I guess! Tomorrow they plant six kinds of corn and melons will go in next. They have a lot to do this week while the weather is dry and sunny. We will keep you updated. Oh and the chickens just keep pumping out eggs, so if you want some and are anywhere between Enumclaw and Seattle, Duane can bring you some for $6/dozen. And weve turned off reservations at the B&B for obvious reasons since Im in the hospital, but we will be honoring existing reservations on the books. Wish us luck as summer tests our resolve as farmers.
