Weve got a big decision to make. This week, Democrat Mary Burke, a former Trek Bicycle executive and philanthropist, announced that shes stepping up to run against Scott Walker in 2014. We all know the stakes: Walker has decimated worker rights, repealed laws that protect apartment renters, endangered our precious environment, and stripped women of their fundamental rights. Hes done the bidding of ALEC and the Koch brothers – and he hasnt even come close to fulfilling his pledge to create 250,000 jobs in Wisconsin. Walkers got to go, and 2014 will be our last chance to clip his wings. Heres the choice we have to make: knowing the massive corporate campaign Walker will build to continue his agenda, should we support Mary Burke now to get a head start on next years election? Cast your vote now: Should Progressives United support Mary Burke now? Scott Walker has harmed our economy and divided our state. And instead of owning up to it, his administration uses cooked numbers to pretend things are going well. Even the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia says Walker is deceptively using their data. Really, at this point, Walkers basically just lying to everyone about his record while planning to run for president in 2016. But in the meantime, we have no doubt that hes going to marshal all the corporate powers he can for his reelection next year. Mary Burke led Trek Bicycles expansion, leading to over 1,000 jobs here in Wisconsin. She has executive experience, and provides a pretty compelling contrast to Walkers empty promises. Mary has also invested locally, building organizations in her community without seeking publicity. And heres Mary on Citizens United: The influx of special interest money into the political process following Citizens United was as predictable as the decision was wrong. As a result, far too many politicians are now more interested in serving narrow special interests than they are in coming together to solve the serious challenges we face. But were counting on you and fellow Wisconsin members of Progressives United to decide whether to get in this race now, while its early. Cast your vote: Should Progressives United get in the Wisconsin governors race for Mary Burke early? Thanks for uniting as a progressive, Cole Leystra Executive Director Progressives United
