Weve had some great comments about the move of the Childrens and Music Libraries to the main building. Well post them here - this is the first one. I think the Music and Children’s Library are fantastic resources and I hope the collections aren’t reduced as a result of the move. Incidentally, I think Edinburgh Library is by far and away the best public library I have ever seen. Our reply to that is that the Children’s Library will be going into a much bigger space than at present and we will be buying some new stock for it. The Music Library will have a certain amount of its collection reduced, but this will be done very carefully and sensitively by library staff. It is part of our job to ensure that our collections are maintained and kept up to date and relevant for all our customers’. Much of the Music Library’s collection is held in a storage area – we are working to ensure that this can also be moved to the main Central Library building.
