Weve read several articles about the rejection of Antonio Weiss to the treasury by U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, but this one is the most accurate. Washington Post had several articles, but got too detailed into the mix of Wall Street, corporate income taxes, inversions, and Lazard (Weisss employer). While certainly relevant, we believe its much bigger and goes toward the recent CRomnibus bill which included last minute deals for Wall Street signed by republicans and President Barack Obama. That upset many progressives across the country. Heres the real issue with another Bankster working for the government to hold his colleagues accountable - we know they wont. Weve seen it time and time again. Its that simple. Warrens anti-Weiss broadside is just the latest in her battle to push the Democratic party to the left. This is not at all about Antonio Weiss, Steve Rattner, an investment banker who worked on the 2009 auto industry bailout, told Politico on Wednesday. It is part of a much broader narrative of the fight for the soul of the Democratic Party and whether so-called progressives are going to capture that or whether more mainstream Democrats…are going to retain it.
