Weve spent a lot of money and time and effort on our garden. Right now Im relishing the cheerful yellow blossoms of a forsythia, a backdrop to the bare branches of our apple tree and reflecting the yellow splashes of daffodils. The forsythia is in next doors garden. Our current neighbours didnt plant it. Who did? Who can I be grateful to? However much effort we put into arranging things as wed like them in our own little lives, there is a whole universe of effort providing us with a backdrop, giving us the ground under our feet. Right now Im making use of electricity, a chair from IKEA, the eczema cream Ive rubbed onto my wrist, this computer, the internet. Your eyes. Keep tending to your own patch. Its important. Dont forget how small you are, and how much is going on without you. Dont forget to enjoy other peoples forsythias. * Do share with anyone who might need to read this today.
