#We’ll Continue With Our Strike, Says Osun Tertiary Institutions’ Workers# Striking academic and non academic staff of the four tertiary institutions owned by the Osun State Govt yesterday vowed to continue with their industrial action, saying government has not met their demands. The affected institutions are Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, Osun State College of Education, Ilesa and Osun State College of Education, Ila- Orangun. This stand by the workers was contrary to a statement aired on both state-owned radio and television, which directed all striking staff of the affected institutions to resume work today. According to the statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Kunle Oyeniran, government said it had met all the demands of the striking staff of the institutions. The statement also claimed that the state government has approved the extension of the retirement age of the academic staff of the affected institutions to 65years from 60years and grant them autonomy through the establishment of Governing Council for each of the institution. Among others, the striking workers are demanding full implementation of the new Contributory Pension Scheme, address understaffing in the institutions, alleged high tax regime, full autonomy and extension of retirement age to 65years.
