We’re calling on Sydneysiders and coin enthusiasts to come - TopicsExpress

We’re calling on Sydneysiders and coin enthusiasts to come celebrate the 30th birthday of the $1 coin with us and to create your own memento of the occasion. Normally altering a coin is illegal, but we’re giving people the chance to be in control of our mobile press to stamp an ‘S’ for Sydney on a limited edition $1 coin (all legal!). The Royal Australian Mint is setting up a pop-up store outside the QVB on Thursday 8 May 2014, selling hard to come by $1 coins featuring those famous five kangaroos, all to celebrate the coins 30th birthday. We’re also doing our bit for charity, just like Australians have been since the introduction of a ‘gold’ coin, we’re making a $1 gold coin donation to the Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea for each of these coins we sell. Just 5000 of these coins will be produced and can be purchased for $10 each, but numbers will be limited. The Mint’s pop-up shop runs from 10 am to 4pm or until we sell out. Hope to see you there!
