We’re creating an online climate adaption instructional module for local governments to help them prepare for rising sea levels, droughts, diseases and other climate impacts. It’s part of our work with President Obama’s State, Local and Tribal Leaders Task Force on Climate Preparedness and Resilience, created last year. Learn more about the Task Force below [include WH link in post], and check out what our Administrator Gina McCarthy has to say: “The climate is changing at a rapid rate, and the risk for extreme weather events is increasing. EPA has a critical responsibility to protect human health and the environment, and we know that means that the Federal Government has to modernize programs and policies to prepare. A key component of our new online module will focus on the needs of smaller, underserved cities and towns, where discussions about climate adaptation may be in earlier stages. EPA’s Local Government Advisory Committee of local, state, and tribal officials will help us develop it. We look forward to continuing our work with the President’s Task Force members to help build a more resilient and safer future for our kids.”
