Whakapapa o te Iwi Maori e ai ki te whakaaro o he Tohunga Wairua Metaphors and analogies used by the Maori o Aotearoa to illustrate diachronic universal upheavals and global occurrences, are long-familiar and have provided Maori with an unshakeable foundation upon which they have established their culture.Unfortunately many of their significances have been slagged with the prejudices of colonial ignorance and mortal religious cecity. May Atua protect nga tangata katoa from such an incapacity. Te Wananga Tapu says that the history, o te Iwi Maori predates the times of Adam, as recorded in the Bible and whilst Maori do not lay claim to any written spiritual works, regarding his evolutionary development and progression, he is nevertheless able to demonstrate and furnish, through the gift of consultation, the art of reason and logic, co-supported by scientific proofs and distinctive analogies, to fairly establish this fact. In this manner te whakapapa (the history) o te Iwi Maori can be traced back to a time even before that of the dinosaurs. Ko te tuatara, he tohu wairua, (a spiritual symbol) within Tikanga Maori antedates the age of the dinosaur by approximately two hundred million years. In fact, the footprints o te Iwi Maori were planted in the annals of history, back unto a time when the cycle of the earth revolved around the sun in a shorter period. Scientists of today, reckoned that the earth at one time, traveled around the sun in eighteen hours. Metaphorically speaking, Te Wananga Tapu gives thanks unto Maui, (Snarer of the Sun) and his brothers for intervening in this cycle and thereby increasing the hours of daylight. (The first concepts of daylight saving perhaps and the causing of the lands of ice to shrink back to thepoles). An already well documented and well-known spiritual mystical allusion, incorporated within te Iwi Maori whakapapa. It is even reckoned, and of this Te Wananga Tapu has no doubts, that the peoples of today, who are known amongst the tribes of the world as the Maori o Aotearoa were established first within the universe and then latterly upon the earth, from the beginning, which has no beginning. In other words, there has never been a time when Maori did not exist. Albeit that they may have been in some other shape or form, as opposed to the handsomeness, loveliness and beauty, that they are currently endowed with. Moreover, who is it that can say, that even in this current form, they are at the apex and crowning glory of their beauty. To this end that te Iwi Maori were created to carry forth an ever-evolving civilization, a journey, which in terms of eternity, Maori have just begun. Whakapapa states that te Iwi Maori, although originally from the Pleiades, began their earthly life and sojourn from deep within the womb of Mother Earth (Papatuanuku), as a single celled embryo, and over eons of time, he gradually traversed his way upwards to the surface of the planet undergoing many coursings and transformations whilst doing so. It was whilst in these evolutionary gradations of human development that Maori were blessed with the necessary capacities and attributes needed to sustain him on his journey. On having reached, the outside world so to speak, his first words uttered were Tihe Mauri Ora”. “I sneeze the dust from out my head and breathe the air of life instead” In analogies and metaphors it appears that one whose was name Tane was in possession of much knowledge, which He had gathered whilst going on a journey in search of His Father, His Creator. Although Tane could not find His Creator He nevertheless found footprints of Him throughout the universe. Each one of these footprints contained a wealth of knowledge, which Tane gathered together into three baskets and then returned home with them. This is the analogy these are the metaphors. Te Wananga Tapu says that in reality Tane was a Prophet of God, he Whakatinanatanga a te Atua. A tower of strength and a walking Encyclopedia. It was He that brought light to the darkened world o te Iwi Maori. Obviously it was not the physical light, for without the sun nothing could exist, but the light of knowledge, more specifically spiritual knowledge. The first thing Tane did when he arrived home from His journey was to set about finding a suitable site for the building of a learning institution wherein these three basket of knowledge were placed. Whakapapa, states that this Wharenui was Te Whare Wananga. Tane encountered much opposition to the establishment o Te Whare Wananga. Maori at that time were just beginning to emerge from their cocoons of animalistic traits and proclivities. They lacked understanding, their spiritual susceptibilities were still in their infancy, they were limited in their reasoning abilities, and their thoughts and actions up until then were more instinctive as opposed to the use of the intelligence. One could well imagine the reception Tane received, when trying to explain to Maori of the day, the existence of Atua (God). Without knowledge and understanding, of the intangible, they were held prisoners of their own ignorance, devoid of discernment and unaware of the fact, that they were part of an organic whole, created and fashioned by the Fingers of Might and Glory. According to Whakapapa, it is stated that Tane sought to implant the female element into Te Whare Wananga. This female element, was none other than, Te Ture Wairua (Spiritual Law) o Te Atua Aroha. Thus, te Iwi Maori were given principles and guidelines (Tikanga Wairua) to implement and incorporate into their daily activities, which would allow them to acknowledge and give praise continuously, to that Divine Entity, which had created them. So it was in the beginning that te Iwi Maori, became the first race of peoples to branch out from the Tree of Humanity (Tane Mahuta), and establish their religious and social orders under the guiding hand of Tane, through which the Powers and Utterances o te Atua Aroha pulsated and flowed. Te Wananga Tapu, recognizes and accepts totally this fundamental and essential truth and in doing so, Te Wananga Tapu re-establisheTikanga Wairua me nga Whakatinanatanga o Atua (Manifestations of God) His Own Self, whenever they appear in this mortal Realm. Hence observers and witnesses will find aspects and teachings of the entire major religions enshrined within Tikanga Wairua. Thus, Te Wananga Tapu asserts that Tikanga Wairua can never be considered as being static, fixed, or inert. Tikanga Wairua is an evolving Kaupapa, one which, as it progressively develops, assimilates and incorporates into its beliefs, the new laws, ideals and philosophies of the Founders of subsequent Religions, which adds further to its uniqueness, beauty and diversity. It also preserves a primary command of Atua that, of maintaining Essential Unity Accordingly it should be fairly well recognized by all peoples, nations and societies of the world, that if this is indeed the case, then Tikanga Wairua is the most advanced of all Religious doctrine, inasmuch as it has achieved unto the desired purpose underlying the existence of religion, which is for the recognition of the Oneness of God, His Prophets and His Messengers and the acceptance that all, are sheltered eternally, beneath the canopy of His Protection and Mercy. Currently however, should Tikanga Wairua be expressed to the followers of other various religions, as an Institute of equal status and rank, and that its teachings are commensurate with theirs, taking in to account it’s developing and evolutionary nature, they still one and all, condemn it as heretical, atheistic, evil and godless, and insistently maintain that it’s beliefs and ordinances are nothing but the fancies of an uncivilized, uncultured, backward and unintelligent, race of dark skinned savages. May Atuarelieve them from such a burden of error, for it may well cause their hearts to falter and their mouths to utter, that which is forbidden na Te Ariki-nui How is possible that such thoughts and concepts could exist, or even dare to be raised when it has already been established that Tikanga Wairua accepts all religions, and believes unconditionally in all their Founders, as being true Messengers from Atua. Oddly enough, they themselves do not accept the claims of each other’s doctrines, albeit that the Prophets of their religions, have all arisen from the same seed. (Te Kakano o Abraham) Not only are they unaware of the truth o Tikanga Wairua but a more disturbing and perplexing concern o Te Wananga Tapu is that nga tangata whenua o Aotearoa, have forsaken Tikanga Wairua themselves and seek for their spiritual sustenance, understandings and guidance, from these same pompous self-serving divines, of other religious institutes (May Atua Forgive them). They have deemed it to be, that the Tauiwi religions are the correct pathways ki te Wharenui o te Atua Aroha. They one and all have turned their backs on Tikanga Wairua yet; at the same time they claim Tikanga Wairua as their heritage and birthright. Atua remaineth clear of them, and them. The view of Te Wananga Tapu, is that, if it is made a requirement that all peoples, religious institutes and governments worldwide recognize and acknowledge Tikanga Wairua then this would go someway to achieving harmony and security throughout the world. Kaore! Te kotahitanga of the planet would be firmly fixed and permanently established. Furthermore Te Wananga Tapu believes, that due to it’s exemplary qualities, the sublimity of its principles, the nobility of its Mana, the loftiness of its ideals and because of it’s inherent unifying properties, Tikanga Wairua, should be proclaimed and accepted not only as the State Constitution of Aotearoa, but also as a recipe mo rangimarie and a standard of behaviour for the entire world to adopt. Thus, all may manifest, under the Banner o Kotahitanga ki te Atua Aroha the symphonic and orchestrated harmonies, underlying the realities of all the various religions cultures and societies puta noa o te ao Currently, and sadly so, this most noble and exalted mission, though a directive and command o te Atua Aroha remains unattainable, due to the lack of understandings by the kings rulers and leaders of the nations and the petty mindedness of the clergy, the priests and the heads of the world’s religions. Ko te Kaupapa o Te Wananga Tapu upholds the oneness of the Wairua, and the essential concept of Unity in Diversity, as an integral and essential element within Tikanga Wairua, which Te Wanga Tapu will not compromise on. Accordingly, it is through this understanding and the belief in the oneness o Atua that Te Wananga Tapu remains steadfast, faithful and immovable.
