Whale Watching Safari 2:30 pm What a day! The Tenacious III left our dock here in Campbell River for the Whale watching safari with reports of both Transient Orca Whales and Resident Orcas in the area! Zipping off to Marina Island, the Tenacious III caught up with 5 Transient Orca Whales. Transient Orcas are the mammal eating Orcas, and although these guys usually move quite quickly, today they were quite slow; Captain Shaun figured they had just eaten their lunch and were slowly digesting it. Heading north, the Tenacious III was on pursuit of a report of Resident Orcas somewhere in Nodales Channel. Before they caught up with them, they stopped at Jimmy Judd Island as there were quite a few Stellar Sea Lions, Harbor Seals and Bald Eagles relaxing in the sun! Mark, our naturalist, said it’s nice to see the Stellar Sea Lions back at Jimmy Judd! As the Tenacious III travelled slowly through Nodales Channel, 2 Large, slightly curved black fins became visible, slicing their way through the calm waters. These two, believed to be the A 36 brothers, were travelling in the channel, hunting for Chinook salmon. On the way home to Kelsey Bay, the Tenacious III came across 6 Pacific White Sided Dolphins in Race Passage; what a fantastic sunny trip!
