What Chris Obukwelu saw in the Super Eagles at the Confedrations - TopicsExpress

What Chris Obukwelu saw in the Super Eagles at the Confedrations cup by popular demand. I didn’t want to talk on the Nigerian super eagles for now until they qualify for the W/cup but I kept receiving, calls, and texts on my opinion on the super eagles. Ok I have decided to write what I think without sentiments. What they did right! Super Eagles bunch are arguably the youngest team in the 2013 Confederations cup competition. 75% of the team are from the Nigeria local league. The boys played their hearts out; they didn’t play for money rather for pride of the nation even when they were battered. Without 45% of super eagles’ regulars; they matched teams that are highly rated by FIFA and didn’t shame the soccer loving people of Nigeria (Well-done boys) What I saw I have always said goalkeeper “Enyeama “can be the best Nigeria have ever produced, only if he keeps his concentration in tact until the end of any game, thus, I could prefer to see Ike Ibrahim Shorunmu always standing up to check on Enyeama instead of Amokachi who tries to stand even when the coach is standing and laying instructions, not sure what for? (Wait for your time, respect the boss). The Nigerian defence As young as they are; they are near perfect, they geal so nicely, they need more big games, more pressure to sit them comfort in the world stage. Communication is the key, Enyeama has to talk (cry, shout, plead) to the defence for the circle to be complete. Midfield Any team without a midfield is a dying team. To this end, Stephen Keshi should use the CHAN games to look for a player like “Garuba Lawal”. Nigeria need a player to do the dirty job; am to understand Onazi is the one to do this? I think we wasting Onazi if this is the case, because naturally he is a gifted player, he shouldn’t be restricted. Less I forget can the coach keshi sort out within the players who takes the near to goal free kicks, these kicks are not made for trials & errors, let the trial and error start and end in the training ground. Mikel obi (WELDONE SON!) I have always told you I expect to see you come up to the standard of Messi, you both started as the same time in the world level. Striking force! Oh dear! First, i think Nigerian strikers @ the tournament needs football discipline!!; Ideye IN MY OWN OPINION plays as if he has seen 4 world cup and doesn’t want to participate in the confederation cup, Nigerian football fans does not need “big man football strikers”, Ideye only showed he is ready to play in the game against Spain, when he stepped up and started helping the defence. Ahmed Musa ( God bless his young soul) was the heartbeat of the Nigerian team, from end to finish terrorised the defence of ALL Nigeria opponents at the Tournament, but I believe he should support- strike instead of wing-play, and should only wing-play when the likes of Odumadi, Moses, etc are not in play. CALL THEM BACK!!! I think Nigerian football fans are too sentimental! Keshi you need to call back all the players that will help you achieve your goal, no matter if the name starts from O or ends with E, you need to stop building when you qualify for the world cup, and start painting. Nigerians will call for your head if you eventually qualify for the world cup and didn’t make the quarter finals, but woe to them because they are digging their grave in football, as you need 2 world cups to be well accessed. I REST MY CASE. In conclusion…. Can I beg those who want the super eagles to move forward to start criticising tactically and constructively to help keshi and the team to shape up.
