What: Farrier Gathering, Storytelling and History When: Friday, September 27 2013 Where: New Bolton Center Cost: Nothing! Details: Farrier have traditionally learned about our profession through story telling. Some of our most valuable information has been passed down from Master to Apprentice. Join us for a day of informal learning and an exchange of information, followed by an evening of entertaining stories. 10AM-noon Gather at the New Bolton Center farrier shop for some forging demonstrations and glue on shoe/ hoof repair demonstrations. noon-1PM Lunch in the New Bolton cafeteria 1PM-3PM The New Bolton Center Podological Museum, a review of horseshoes and specimens used for teaching about horseshoeing since before the Penn Vet School was founded. 3PM- Whenever Join us for a pig roast and refreshments as listen to stories from the farrier profession- techniques, people, horses and history. Invited storytellers include Bruce Daniels, Sonny Pistilli, Henry Heymering, Eddie Warrington, Dave Duckett, Rob Sigafoos, Herb Weaver, Jack Davison, Steve Teichman and Eddie Scheckner (not yet confirmed, hopefully they can all make it along with other farriers).
