What I did today. As the story goes, the bottom portion of my latest project was built in 1942 by my dad Louis Edward Frechette. He built it for McCleary Auto parts in New Ulm MN. The owner, J. Earl McCleary was impressed by my dads work ethic although they both agreed he lacked skill and the final project sucked. Thus, he became a salesman. This counter eventually was moved to the new McCleary Auto Parts in Tracy MN in the late 1950s, located downtown Tracy, next to a tire store that eventually became the bowling alley. It was part of their actual counter for approximately 25 years. When they moved out to their current location in the late 1970s. My dad put it in his basement. It sat there until 2011. In 1995, I built a wooden camping box, customized to fit into the back of my station wagon. In 2011 I built the camping box into the inside of the counter and used it for a workbench. Today, I augmented the top to also function as a bar for my man cave. Life is good.
