What I learned about hunt tests in Utah this weekend...Saturday was the WC/WCX and WD/WDX for the IWSCA National. 1. Hunting is not for the faint of heart. Winds, rain and miserable cold take a sturdy person to handle. Not an outhouse or reasonable size bush in sight for the many women in the group....dont drink too much tea or coke or youll be sorry....it was a LONG day. 2. Mud two inches thick both inside and outside of your vehicle is a badge of honor!. 3. What no bird, not once but twice means to your hyped up dog ready to run. And the mystery of how a bird gets thrown and the gunner is out of ammo. That you dog has been well trained for poison bird ....no WC today. 4. That the day is not over. Your dog astounds you with his ability in the WD...and can now add WD to the back end of his name. 5. That a fabulous trainer is worth his weight in gold. Watching Matthew Nolan run Keegan, Ruckus, Finnegan and Elliott was such a treat. All of the boys had at least one ribbon on the day. 6. That at the end of the day, having your first field dog trumps everything else. With Richard Liebaert,Stacy Duncan
