What I learned studying the Five-Factor Theory of personality by Foos and Clark (2003). I think personality is the work of the environment, that is, the environment is the administrator for our personality not biology or genetic. The environment is the organization for what we become while the biology or genetic provide the ability to input the environment to genetic for adaptation or to use for survival. Beside the basic that we were born with the ability to sense danger, things that have direct force with biology or genetic makeup such as sensing cold environment or hunger and thirst or the physical faculty in which to obtains information about the physical world or environment. The rest is of what we know is instill into sense by the environment and the teaching of what is the right and wrong. According to the study indicated by Foos and Clark, “some argue that personality is biological base or genetic in origin and only slightly modified by environment.” (Foos & Clark 2003 p179-180) I disagree with the study from the notion that behaviors that become the way for our conducts that identify for a personality is learned or instill from the environment. However, I used the understanding of the Five-Factor Theory of personality to analyze the people that I get to know over the years. The Five-Factors of personality according Foos and Clerk (2003) are neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience, agreeable, and conscientiousness. Individual personality is a component of other personality that is a factor of all the personality. Curtis, according to description is extravert openness to experience for outgoing, sociable, enjoy be the center of attention, willingness to try new ways of doing things, imaginative and always ready to go somewhere new or try something different. Our difference is that I viewed Curt personality for risky behavior that I do not like or made me uncomfortable. Laura, according to description is extravert agreeableness for out going, warm hearted with a strong tendency to cooperate, trusting, submissive and easily persuaded by others. Our difference is that I viewed Laura personality as passive for wanting me to encourage her to take initiative, be in charge, and to be aggressive when it comes to her needs, which made me wanting to be close to help or guide her. Modupe, that is I, according to description is introvert conscientiousness for being serious, prefer to be by myself with tendency to accomplish things, well organized, competent, and having high level of self-discipline for being cold, standoffish, and selfish when it comes to others my need comes first, if I am not happy I cannot make anyone happy. Therefore, allow me to have my way or leave me alone. To me, there is no other way around it; in order to make other happy I have to be happy first. The reason for my analysis is that in any personality there is good and bad, positive and negative association. Therefore, no one is just right. However, the lesson is being you, made the merry go around. Reference Foos, Paul W. & Clark, M. Cherie (2003). Psyc 357 Human Aging. Custom Edition for UMUC by Pearson Education, Inc
