What I learned subbing today: three kindergartners are interested - TopicsExpress

What I learned subbing today: three kindergartners are interested in playing kickball: the other 25 want to play cats. Kindergarten PE is like trying to capture the fleeing mercury. On the upside, if I just tickle the ribs of the boy, he will drop the shoe he has stolen from his classmate. I am only a little disappointed that nobody in this group invited me to their birthday party, but the sparkly black boots were a hit. As far as subbing PE goes, the 7th-8th grade boys class is a hoot. Once I convince them I am definitely not down for dodgeball and that No means no, they were great fun. Once I answer the question, Do you like us? with an affirmative and follow that with, and I have discovered you have a fondness for whining, the eighth graders really will stop snivelling and indulge all of us with a solid twenty minutes of task-oriented silence. The Juniors know their Plessey V. Ferguson versus their Brown v. School Board. I also learned a great deal about ethics in education, as I read an entire chapbook for my online course. Same time, same channel again tomorrow--barring snow.
