What I see as the defining difference between a typical liberal mindset and a conservative mindset is that liberals believe society must be FORCED to take care of its own via government intervention, while conservatives believe that, left alone, individual communities have the wherewithal to take care of themselves and the individuals living within. Let the gov worry about defending our borders, keeping the nation safe from outside threats, and maintaining the communications and transportation infrastructures and let the PEOPLE take care of themselves. It is NOT the governments job to feed us, clothe us, and give us a job. (I use quotes to indicate that this is how I see it from where I stand and does not necessarily apply across the board for all liberals or conservatives). Proof of my assertion that Americans can be trusted to do the right thing is the fact that, more and more, communities are stepping up to the plate and holding raffles, 5ks, benefits, etc. etc. etc. by the thousands to help the people in their communities because of the govs failure to do so. We dont NEED the govs support in this manner to survive.
