What I thought about yesterdays CDC... UP Pep Squads vision is really commendable. For crying out loud, yung group lang nila yung may pinaglalaban na advocacy this year AND, BINUHAT NG GIRLS YUNG MGA LALAKI! They did an exquisite performance to the point na 1 lang yung deduction nila. I really wanted them to win, but then I saw NUs performance. Yes, what they wore was quite controversial as the head dress should represent something more (hindi ko na ieelaborate kasi ayaw ko magshare ng hindi ko sure pero its something that is gained accdg. to what I read). I really commend their routine for the very reason that the level of difficulty is too damn high and they did it flawlessly from what my perspective (apparently hindi pala as they incurred 15 points deduction). Then it happened, people started bashing NU Pep Squad for what they wore. The sad thing is, mostly came from my home school. The very same school whose squad is fighting for equality. They kept on pointing out that UP should win because we have a message and not NU for cultural insensitivity as they tweeted. But the thing is, its a Cheer Dance Competition. Judges will look at the theme/vision and how they can incorporate it into their routines, they will not look into the theme/vision itself kasi kung ganun lang din naman, eh di lahat ng schools inincorporate na ang social awareness sa routine. I guess what I wanted to say is, sometimes we do not act what we speak. We tend to over point out what our community wants to say but we act otherwise. UP Pep Squad won the hearts of many through their message but their fellow isko and iska didnt quite seem to get the message themselves. For me, both teams deserved to bag the championship, but the thing is, NU did better from the judges perspective. Sorry for this pero ito lang yung naobserve ko from my community and hindi ko nagustuhan. But again, whooo lets go UP! So proud of you guys!!! :) we gave NU a good fight!
