What Really Matters? A good question to ask yourself is, As I live, work and play today, what really matters?” Whatever you value, will capture your attention and drive your actions. We must renew our minds everyday in order to stay aligned with Gods desires. If we aren’t alert and watchful, we will be deceived into a wrong pattern of thought. We can think something matters much more than it really does, and lose sight of what REALLY matters. God’s Word speaks boldly to this issue: If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.” 1 Cor. 13 1-3 God is NOT saying the list of things doesn’t matter. But He IS saying all those things, as good as they are, do not matter as much as love. HOW you do what you do is more important than WHAT you do. Do the right things, but more importantly, do the right things the right way. Scripture doesn’t leave us hanging. It goes on to describe how to love, how to treat people the right way. “Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” Love never fails. 1 Cor. 13:4-8 Invest some time thinking through how to practically apply this passage. How can you show someone today that you believe in them? How can you demonstrate patience, hope and endurance? How can you help someone fail forward? To whom should you show kindness? Make a difference in someones life today. OUCH AND AMEN!!
