Yeah, that is what the devil wants you to believe. Truth is, the Bible has all the answers to all the problems you and I face in life. There is not a situation we face that the Bible does not address. The only problem is, we have to open it or open the app on our device and spend time in it. Turn the TV off, put the video game down and make the Bible a daily priority in your life. 12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. Meaning – The Word of God is sharp, it cuts to the heart of the matter in your life. It is powerful – it will change you and it will change those you share it with. It penetrates down deep to the core of your being. You can hide and deceive men, but you cannot hide form the Word of God. As you spend time in it, it will go right to the places you need to change in your life and challenge every flaw and every weakness. But it also offers comfort and solutions. God works through His Word. He comforts through His Word. God’s promises are in the Bible – not a song on the radio. Music may comfort for a time, but God’s Word gives us substance to stand on. I have a fear, that if I think about it, I will get myself into a panic attack. Then I remember, God will not tempt me above what I am able to bear. Where to I find that precious jewel? In the Bible. Application – Why don’t we spend time in the Bible? Well the devil gives us a list of excuses. First, we don’t have time. The truth is, we do what is important. We accomplish what we want to. Choose to spend time in the Bible. Second, we say that the Bible is too hard to understand. If you stay in the New Testament and you read the Bible slowly so that you understand every word, then it is quite clear and it is very easy to understand. Both of these are excuses the devil will give you to keep you from God’s Word. Why? Because he knows that if you spend time in God’s Word, then you are going to be changed.
