~ What To Wear ~ AND other Photo Session Tips! MUST READ!!!! As many of you know I am a huge Clickin Moms fan, since I have become a member I have read so many blogs and tips about photo sessions, This morning I opened my mailbox to my latest Click Magazine (which is AWESOME!) and I read an inspiring article that really has me thinking. I thought I would place a a few extra pointers for my own clients based upon my experience thus far... I truly want you to look and feel your best on the day I take your photos ~ (these are my top 5 to help you prepare) 1) KIDS NOSES: Yes, this is my number ONE because this is what I spend tons of time editing (dried crusty boogers! lol) Trust me, I edit this on my own kids too! Unfortunately, its that season for runny noses. A cold afternoon doesnt help! A little tip from me: always keep Kleenex with you during photo sessions. Use a warm cloth or wipe prior to your session to remove the remaining pieces of lunch from the corners of their mouth and those dried spots under their little noses, although I can edit this out of the photo, its always better to start with a fresh clean face! 2) MAKEUP NO-NOs: Hey ladies, it is perfectly acceptable to go a bit heavier with color on your face for that bold crisp look but a finishing powder will look best, (its a MUST!) avoid makeup/foundation that has sunscreen, they cause more of a glow which can appear cause shinny spots. 2) Make sure your skin tone is a good match to your makeup, a change in seasons and those fading summer tans will require a new shade or tone of makeup. 3) Nurture those chapped lips, cracked lips in photos can be tricky to fix. A smooth natural finish chap-stick is best, and carry something with you during the photo session if your lips tend to dry out easily 4) Avoid that heavy shimmer lip gloss. Sometimes it looks like a star-burst of light glowing from girls lips, and it appears as the focal point... ahhh!... this requires much fixing (matte looks best) and avoid supper shinny eye makeup, it can cause glare, and distract from the actual beauty of your natural eye. 3) DRESS TO FLATTER YOUR FIGURE/ SHAPE: If you dont like the way a certain part of you looks, do not wear anything that will cling or hug that area. Try on several outfits stand in front of the mirror and do a 180 view. I even suggest having someone take a cell- phone snap shot of you in that outfit from a few angles, this will give you a good idea how it appears on your body from a different perspective. Wear clothing that fits, especially kids.. sleeve that are too long or pants that drag on the ground can be distracting in photos. And GO AHEAD... practice those poses in the mirror, its ok! :) Every woman should know her good side! 4) THINK HAIR! I am absolutely jealous of women that can have the straight-bangs hair cut, it can be so flattering the way it frames your face. Keep in mind that sometimes these bangs are too long and fall into your eye. With my sessions... that require a lot of moving, and fun action shots... I often see the hair falling into the eyes or covering your pretty faces. Consider a haircut or trim just a few days before your session, or consider pinning back a few pieces, so I can capture those flawless beautiful faces and eyes!! 5) IRON IRON IRON: Wrinkles show in photos, always always press your clothes, if your bring a change of outfits... have them hanging up in your car, ready to wear. 2) Have the appropriate socks and shoes to match your outfits... and clean them up too for that flawless clean look! :) I hope this helps!! -Ashley
