What You Can Expect After Your Cryoshape Procedure: After the procedure is finished and you have gone home here is what you should expect... Day 1) You will see that the scar looks larger, redder and may be somewhat painful at a level of 3-‐4 on a scale of 10. The redness may last a few days, but the pain should stop after one day. The scar site will drain and you will see some oozing from the site (this is normal). Day 2) You can wash and shower normally keeping the scar site clean and lubricated using a lubricant cream or ointment like Aquaphor. Most people keep the dressing or new bandage on for a few days until the oozing stops. Day 3) A color and look change may occur and you may see what appears to look like a scab forming (this is called necrosis and is again normal) Day 4) From this point on to the end of 40 days, the scar will go through many changes of color and texture and somewhere between 4 weeks and 6 weeks the scar will peel or slough off. Weeks 4-‐6) When the scar sloughs, peels or falls off (do not pick at it, or pull it off) The skin may be a little raw at this time but it will also be about 75% less than it was before the procedure. From this point to about a year from the time of the procedure, you may have as much as 15% more reduction in volume. If there was hypopigmentation originally, there should be much less by this time. You should not experience any regrowth of the scar.
