What a beautiful fall day in New York. Today I took Kylie to the park for the first time since she has been feeling herself again. I took her once before when she was still feeling yucky and hadnt started her trial yet and she wanted nothing to do with it. Today though, she wanted EVERYTHING to do with it! She soaked up every possible thing she could; from the children to the sandbox and structures to the trees and birds. She loved watching the other kids go down the slide and play in the sandbox. She, herself, LOVED the swings! She swung for at least 20 minutes straight. She was also very brave and went down a slide with a little assistance from mama. They have these stone elephants she enjoyed sitting on as well. To watch her face and eyes light up at every glance was the most breathtaking thing Ive ever seen. So much joy. Thats something you dont get from any normal child. Cancer brings on a mountain of ugly, but in those cracks there is so much beauty. It wasnt just a day at the park like it used to be when she was healthy, it was an experience. Shes seen the bad and the ugly and its finally her turn to see the good and beautiful. She knows the difference. At 2 years old this baby girl knows the difference between prison and freedom. And that makes the beautiful all that much more beautiful.
