What a glorious day! Carmen was moved from the Neuro ICU into a neuro recovery room. I came in this morning and was told by the nurses that it was happening today due to her improvement during her evaluations. I cried and cried such tears of joy - how bittersweet. I was so happy there was that much improvement, however, all of the staff in the ICU have been so wonderful to my sister and our entire family. I will truly miss their never-ending kindness and compassion. I hugged as many of the nurses who cared for her that were there, the patient care managing nurse, and her cleaning lady whom we bonded with these past three weeks. There were so many tears between the staff and me -- but they were the bestest, happiest tears I have shed in a long time. I started taking her room apart and packing it up and one of the nurses helped with that task (not a small task because we tried to make the room happy and cheery). We loaded up the carts and took her belongings to her new room and came back down to get Carmen. Carmen saw that I had been crying and I told her not to worry because they were happy tears and she told me she loves me so much, which made me cry more! Carmen decided she wanted to walk to her new room (no wheelchair), so she put on a robe, grabbed the Kermit I gave her, and we ventured to the neuro recovery area together. Things are looking up! Thank you all for your prayers, positive thinking, and reaching out to my family and me! I just feel so much gratitude for so many reasons and my heart is filled with JOY!
