What a great day!!! We started out with 7th graders giving presentations to elementary students. Instead of being Anti-bully, they choose to go with Pro Kindness. They have been working on this program all year and raising funds to purchase t-shirts with their slogan, One Person, One thought, One voice can make a difference. They have been putting this together on their own. I was in awe as I stood in the back of the classroom and watched them do wonders!! My heart was taken back when one student shared her very personal experience with bullying and how it almost led to her taking her own life. Her fellow students emphasized the importance of being kind, just inviting someone to sit with you at lunch, giving a compliment etc. Her openness allowed another student to speak up and share, and this 5th grader ended up in tears because he was so emotional about how much it meant to have someone take the time to show they cared!!! Everyone left our presentation with a Pay It Forward wrist band and a challenge to go out and Pay it Forward!!! !Today, our high school students hit the streets equipped with money, flowers and food! (along with Pay It Forward wrist bands!) we have a lot of road construction in our little town, so they eagerly went and made sure EVERYONE received a bottle of water and a treat! They also randomly went up to people and handed out flowers along with the Pay It Forward cards! One lady actually stopped and talked to them about how their kindness was such a blessing and what that blessing will do! They also wrote messages on envelopes and we attached them along with money on the washers at the laundry mat reading, This load is on us! Pay It Forward! with a PIF card attached!
