What a morning - This story actually started long ago.. our wonderful pet Wishbone died about 4 months ago. After sometime we took in another rat terrier, named Rosey. She is a perfect fit for our home, our life, and the grandchildren. Of course she cant replace, nor was she brought here to replace our 19 year old Wishbone. For all things there is a season and this is now Roseys time in our life. Rosey has now become friends with Bandit- our 4 year old Corgi - so generally in the dog world, things here are good. Until..... Back to the long ago...my dear Aunt Emaline lost her oldest son, Johnny, several years ago. His death was indirectly related to a spider bite. He was the same age as I am. On his death bed, he asked me (being my mothers oldest child) to take care of his mother. Even though I would have done that anyway, he needed to be assured someone would be there to watch over her as he had done so well for so many years. Yesterday I drove an hour and a half to pick up another dog named Pee Wee. Pee Wee has now been named Elvis - why Elvis you ask? Well because this new little Pomeranian is for our dear Aunt Emaline, my beloved mothers twin sister, both from Louisville, Kentucky. So she named her new dog Elvis. Naming your dog Elvis is a Kentucky/Tennessee thing and unless you are from there or grew up in the 50s, you might not understand. We respect her wishes. Elvis weight 3.5 pounds, is just beautiful, and is adjusting to our busy household. I had just finished cutting Jacen Rosss hair, who is almost two. It was a little traumatic for him to say the least. Mara was standing in line waiting on her haircut. After her, I was finishing cutting Ritas hair when all the sudden my son Ross screams out......Oh, _______ the little dog has fallen in the pool. Well you can imagine the frantic entourage of small to large folks running to pool side. Ross grabbed the little thing up quickly and handed it off to me holding a warm towel. I started a fast massage to keep it from going into hypothermia - it was already foaming at the mouth. We would have never known she was almost drowning in the pool had it not been for the Corgi yipping to the top of her lungs. So both Bandit and Ross saved Elvis - now it is starting to sound like a reality show theme. What do you think? Maybe we should name our new book or movie Elvis survives the Bailey/Beach household. Getting back to my aunt Emaline. She had a little Pomeranian that died of pancreatic cancer several months back. I have been looking for her a new dog for some time. I have been to look at several but none were a match until Elvis. Just to think he might have died in our pool before even meeting his longing new owner, Emaline would have been double sad. So Elvis is fine and our home is back to its normal chaotic state. After $400.00 re-homing fee for Elvis, a 3 hour round trip to get him, a $75.00 fee to fly him home with us in two weeks, and a near drowning, Elvis will soon join his new momma, Emaline. So all is good......and at this moment lived happily ever after. Pictures of the Elvis coming - another sighting.
