What a wonderful Purim we celebrated this week. With some 250 participating in our Purim meals between our Gants Hill & Buckhurst hill Chabad Houses. Some 600 people heard the Megillah this year through Chabad. Many individuals were visited at home, in hospital and homes for the elderly. Please take a moment to look at our colourful pictures now posted to the left of this article. From Purim, we go straight into Pesach. The new Pesach on line shop details are being released this week and our Communal Sedorim are open for registration. Some 40 people have already booked in. Where will you be for Pesach? Don’t sit alone, come and join us for an inspirational journey, with good company, food and inspiration. This Shabbos we read the portion of “Shemini” and is also known as Parsha “Parah”, the third of the special portions read before Pesach. Shemini – meaning the number eight. It’s the eighth day of the inauguration of the Mishkan – Sanctuary. Moshe has prepared Aaron the High Priest for seven days to take on the duties of leading the services. It was now Aarons turn to take on his new role. However, Aaron did not step up to Alter as he was troubled by a constant vision that he saw. He saw the Alter in the shape of a bull, and could not bring himself forward. The commentaries explain this vision as Aaron although now free of the sin of the golden calf, was constantly reminded by this offense and constantly burdened his conscience. He was troubled in thinking that maybe G-d had not forgiven him after all. BUT Aaron was forgiven for his participation; hence it was Aarons own perception that was holding him back. Moshe told Aaron that he had been forgiven and hence begun his role and did lead the new services. What a great lesson for us to learn. Many times in life it is our OWN limitations and self image that prevent us from using our potential in accomplishing all that we really can. A positive self image generates positive energy and allows us to maximise our potential and accomplish so much more. Have a wonderful shabbos and a successful week to follow.
