What a wonderful day! We welcomed a baby boy late this afternoon. What a confident mom! Yesterday she missed her antenatal check up appointment, which was very unlike her. So we called to ask if all was well - and she says, Well, I have been monitoring contractions which are half hour apart! Okay, we say - let us know if you need anything, or of labor progresses. By 9:30 last night, we get a call.. alls well, contractions are still half hour apart, maybe some more frequent, and i have some show. Okay, try and get some rest we say. Call again at 3:30 am this morning, contractions are 5 mins apart - Okay, lets monitor some contractions over the phone.. okay, they are not so intense. Can you take a warm shower and call us back if labor gets stronger?.. Okay, she says. Next call at 7:00 am, contractions are strong. Okay, please start for the birth center And when she reached the Center, she was already 7 cms dilated! Managing her contractions beautifully. Smiling her trade mark smile between contractions. And, as pushing was a tad hard for her, she says something which we have heard possibly in every language Inka entha sepu.. how much longer? We assure her that it will not be that much longer. And then she has her baby! What an empowered Mama, what an empowered birth!
