What a wonderful tribute to a young man who gave his life in pursuit of freedom for others yesterday when hundreds of people braved the elements to welcome Aaron Toppen home. Very moving.. I am however posting on behalf of another member of the Licoln-Way HS Class of 2013 that pretty much flew under the radar that in his own right was a hero and role model within his own community. Earlier this week Frank Licka, a graduate of Lincoln-Way North deceased on his summer job in Frankfort. Frank set the all-time record at LWN in volunteer hours a record Administrators say might never be broken. So I am asking my Facebook people, especially those who have children to not forget Frank Licka in your prayers when remembering Aaron Toppen. We lost TWO great young men. One that the Lincoln-Way community embraced and one equally deserving young man who understood that giving was what it is all about. And oh by the way, Franks momma could use more prayers than you initially would think which of course is a pretty big statement I know... Franks momma lost her husband to cancer just four years ago... God Bless this lady. Franks services are from 1-4 today at Kurtz Funeral Home in Frankfort.
