What an evening! Chris took me out to the Plumsted Grill for an early dinner to relax before our seminar tomorrow. Toward the end of our meal I noticed the woman at the table next to use was standing next to the man she was with, looking a bit concerned, and that then noticed that his eyes were kind of rolling in the back of his head. I saw what sort of looked like an epi pen, so I asked her whether she wanted to have an ambulance called and she said yes. While I was doing that, Chris went to help her and found out that the fellow was diabetic and seemed to have had a precipitous insulin drop. What I thought was an epi pen was actually insulin. Chris was amazing, very calmly holding the guy and busting her ass to keep him focused on her and not allow him to pass out. Meanwhile I helped his wife gather their belongings and pack their uneaten dinner into boxes. Emergencies are never fun, but this was really smooth and calm, Chris and I stayed with the couple until they were packed into the ambulance, the restaurant staff remained helpful and calm, in short, despite being in a very crowded restaurant, there was no panicking, no gawking, and everything went as well as it possibly could under the circumstances. Totally took it out of both of us though, absolutely ready to fall asleep NOW!
