What an incredible morning!! Zoey and I were coloring. All of a sudden, it dawned on me that I had my regular Meals On Wheels delivery today. Freaking out, I jumped up, checking the time. Whew!! I had just enough time to change out of my pajamas and get there. Zoey decided she wanted to come so we both put on some Santa hats and the boys stayed home :( When we left, I noticed the gas was low, but decided Id get some after our delivery, thinking wed be fine. When I got to the office to pick up the meals, I was assigned to a route that I have not done in a long time. There were a few new meal recipients that I had never been to before. And it was a route that took me out of the city. In the middle of nowhere. As I left the first house, my gas light came on, but I thought there would be a gas station on the way to the next. Key word: thought. The whole long way there, the gas light was on. I was praying the whole time, desperate for a gas station, I really did not want to have to call my husband and have to deal with him the rest of the day if I were to get stranded. It became apparent there would be no place to get gas. It got to the point I put it in Neutral going down hills and would only put it in Drive when the hills were too steep for me to coast up them. I finally made it to the second house. With the gas light on, I rushed to give the elderly gentleman his meals and wish him Merry Christmas. I was scared the van would die in his driveway. I ran back and got in. The gas light was OFF!! And the needle was higher than it had been. OK, perhaps I was at a slight enough incline in his driveway. But as I drove off- it remained OFF and the gas gauge was creeping UP....am I seeing things???!! By the time I realized I was not going crazy, I was bawling my eyes out, praising Jesus. He had actually miraculously added a little gas to my tank! That gas light did not come on the entire time it took me to get to the third house- which was about 15 minutes away. Again, in the middle of nowhere, no gas stations. I was so thankful and amazed I told the guy what had just happened (also to explain why my face was all puffy and red from crying). He asked if I needed some gas; he had a little he could spare. At first I said Id probably be okay (sure, Carey!) because the light was not on anymore. But just to be safe, I told him Ill check to make sure its still off The light was ON! It had been OFF the whole time from house 2 to house 3. He generously gave me some from a gas jug he had laying around. After we left, it hit me what route we were on. I grabbed the book and on the front was the number 7. At that moment I felt Him tell me Im watching over you. WOW! (Let the floodgates open!!!) From there, we finished our route, made it back into the city and got gas- with the light remaining OFF the whole time. I have seen Gods hand in many situations, and He has provided for me numerous times, but nothing like this! I have heard of Him doing things similar to this for other people before, and I know of when Jesus fed over 5000 people with only five loaves of bread and two fish in Matthew 14:13-21. But He did this FOR ME. Even when I am not worthy of His presence or when I fail to be good enough. He remains faithful, even when we are not (2 Timothy 2.13) I also know He is going to bless the man who gave us the gas, as He used him to provide for us. We truly serve an amazing God......Dont ever be convinced otherwise! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
