What an incredible run by a team starting their 3rd string QB for - TopicsExpress

What an incredible run by a team starting their 3rd string QB for only the second game of his college career against the vaunted Alabama Crimson Tide. Three lineman from last years team started in the NFL this year as rookies meaning we started the season with 3 out of 5 offensive lineman having NEVER started a game. 1 O lineman had started 2 games and 1 o lineman had stared 12 games. Then have to play Navy and their cut blocking option offense on the road to open. Then face the Bear front of an experienced VT defense with a second string QB making the second start of his career. Tough task and they came up short...way short. never quit and steadily through the year those inexperienced lineman and qb became veterans and got better and better. I love the comments of people that they suck etc when they lost that game without ever giving any thought to the inexperience. You see inexperienced players with ability can and will get better with playing time. These were not 3rd year mediocre starting players who had reached their ceiling, got beat and had no hope of getting better. Making a bowl and now another bowl game also gives this team a great deal of additional practice time this year that will pay dividends again next year. A bowl game gets a team 20 practice sessions and now a week and a half to practice on top of that. Will they beat Oregon? Who knows..But to see a young team grow with replacement and replacement to the replacement qb has been more fun in many ways than seeing a senior laden dominant team. I would love to see that game from last night with a healthy Braxton Miller at QB and Bama start a guy for his second game of his career.
