What an interesting show we got lined up for tonight... This is Mikes bio, The major part of my career was spent, as a scientist, in the MOD Establishment at Fort Halstead, variously known as RARDE, DRA, DERA, and currently DSTL and Qinetiq. I am likely the World\s leading scientist in bomb disposal of terrorist, conventional and terrorist nuclear bomb disposal. I was the technical Team Leader of the only UK Team that would be tasked to attempt to make safe a terrorist nuclear bomb in 1993. In 1997, I offered to safely clear and dispose of the munitions of the SS Richard Montgomery WWII wreck lying one mile from Sheerness Beach, with an estimated 10,353 bombs still onboard with an explosive mass of 1,400 tonnes of TNT. The civil Servant in charge of managing the wreck refused my offer, or accept my offer of computer modelling the risk from air blast and fragments to define an accurate safe Zone. She refused my request that the public had a right to know the safe zone would be in the region of thirty miles, so they could decide to accept her assurances that there was no risk or move themselves and their families outside that safe zone. Instead today the contribution the DFT are making to our Olympics is that all athletes and world spectators are at risk from this WWII wreck!!! It would make pole vaulters jump far beyond a world record by several miles! Congratulations Theresa Crossly! A Damehood is on its way for your outstanding contributions to mankind! youtube/watch?v=be8ztbs4Ycc
