What are DPNs useful for besides knitting in the round (like - TopicsExpress

What are DPNs useful for besides knitting in the round (like socks) and i-cords? I always use magic loop/circulars for my in the round knitting, and the only thing I can think of to need DPNs for is i-cord knitting since my circs are so long its a pain in the rear end. I dont want to invest into DPNs if I never use them for anything other than i-cords, so Im curious if there are other uses that make them worth putting money into?
