What are THE NEW REVELATIONS given to humanity by God? Find out here... (Book Excerpt #43…Note: this is a passage from the book “The New Revelations.” It is a dialogue between a simple human being, Neale Donald Walsch, and God. This excerpt picks up where the last entry left off. For purposes of continuity, daily reading will prove very helpful.) NEALE: Okay, I’m taking Step 3 right now. I declare that I am willing for a new understanding of God and of Life to be brought forth. GOD: Good. Now, do you remember Step Four? NEALE: Step 4 is choosing to be courageous enough to explore and examine new understandings, and, if they align with our inner truth and knowing, to enlarge our belief system to include them. GOD: That is exactly right. And that is exactly what this dialogue is intended to give you a chance to do. Are you ready to take an exploration? NEALE: Okay, but I’m nervous. It still feels a bit scary. It feels as though you’re going to shake the foundation of everything that the people of the world hold true. GOD: Yet this is exactly what your planet needs right now. Very few people are exploring these ideas. Very few are even willing to look at them. You have to have courage to do that, because new ideas can be challenging. Do you have the courage? NEALE: Well, if I don’t have to agree with you….if we’re just going to talk…. GOD: In some societies that’s a very big thing. People are not encouraged to do that. In fact, in some places they are not even allowed to. There is no doubt that in some circles this very book will be banned. NEALE: Well, I guess I’m among the courageous ones, then. GOD: Not just you, but everyone reading this book. If they haven’t put it down by now, they’re courageous, too. NEALE: Well, here we all are, so let’s get to exploring. We’re going to be examining beliefs, right? GOD: Yes. These are the underpinnings of all human experience. Although some of them seem to pertain only to God, and, hence, might seem as though they affect only those people who believe in God, you will see presently how these ideas about God have deeply impacted secular life. NEALE: Yes, you were talking about that before. GOD: One does not have to believe in God to be impacted by the social conventions created by those who do. These social conventions produce cultural imperatives—ways that all people feel they have to live their lives, because that’s just “how things are.” NEALE: So religion often affects the non-religious. GOD: That’s the point, exactly. Organized religion in the end is nothing more than a system of beliefs. All human behaviors are based on human beliefs, and one set of beliefs feeds another, creating what you might call Super Beliefs that transcend particular religious or secular philosophies. With beliefs, as with all things, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
