What are your thoughts on the Taiji dolphin hunt going on now in Japan? The annual hunt provides income and food for local residents but has received international criticism for both the cruelty of the dolphin killing and the high mercury levels of the dolphin meat. During the hunt they also capture whales and dolphins to sell to places like Sea World (although many lose the will to live knowing the rest of their life will be in captivity, as seen in this photo). My thoughts? Eating and capturing dolphins and whales in this day and age is heartbreaking. They are intelligent, social and self aware beings and deserve to be treated as such. Why do animals have no rights and why do humans commit these acts? Our species can be so atrocious. Anna
