What can we say to encourage folks to see the beauty in our capable seniors? Roxe is a miniature pinscher who only weighs 11-pounds. When Roxe reached her tenth birthday, her family celebrated by dropping her off at the shelter, claiming that they no longer had time for her. Now it’s not that Roxe requires much fuss. In fact, Roxe is paper trained so that she hasn’t even enjoyed walks. Is it any wonder that Roxe protested when she was assigned to strangers at the shelter? Peculiarly the intake examiner noted that Roxe was “fractious but easy to examine once she was restrained!” Well now wouldn’t you be easy to examine under restraint??? Anyway, Roxe appears to be in good health aside from a growth on her neck that should be checked out. Roxe’s previous owner said that she’s frightful around strangers but that she lived amicably with a bird. Roxe doesn’t need to die tomorrow; she simply needs gentle introductions. Roxe is not likely to live through the day tomorrow unless we can find a home for her right now.
