What did Sunday Evening Bring? According to the Dr.s it appears - TopicsExpress

What did Sunday Evening Bring? According to the Dr.s it appears Mom is in the final hours of life. She has been communicating better with us today. Mainly with her eyes, squeezing my hand or wiggling her toes and feet. But it is very evident that she has weakened and has slept more today than any other. Vital organs are beginning to shut down. The hours and minutes have become so much more precious to all of us. I cannot begin to communicate how wonderful the Hospice staff has been to our family. The skills, training and just plain old passion these people have to bring dignity to the end of life has brought me to tears so many times. They become like family to you in just a few short hours. I have a new-found appreciation for people who are these kind of caregivers. Seriously in awe! When your greatest priority for the day is to sit with a loved one awaiting their impending death you are deeply impacted with how life really slows down and becomes more focused. We are so frail as humans. Way beyond anything that we really understand. And deeply dependent upon power beyond ourselves. I cannot fathom going through this without the hope we have in Jesus Christ. If anything, my desire to reach others for Jesus is stronger than ever. So, for what may be her final night on earth I sit beside my Mom simply listening for breath. And wondering which one may be the last one. Realizing how much I have taken mere breath for granted. If you are reading this, why not thank God for that next breath you take. And realize that for any one of us, the next one could be the last one!
