What did these people have in common: Gregory Bateson (anthropologist), John Lily (LSD experimenter), Frank Drake (astronomer and grandfather of the SETI project), Carl Sagan (scientist) ... they were all in one way or another involved in communication between humans and dolphins. Bateson was actually director of the laboratory for communicating with dolphins on St. Thomas Island in the Caribbean, and Lily worked there too. This was the 60s. When they eventually had to separate, Peter (the dolphin) committed suicide, they say of a broken heart.
