What did you do last week? Valley Catholic Elementary School (VCES) Physical Education Teacher Eric Holstrom was on the move - literally. He competed in the 2014 Boston Marathon, finishing the race in 3:14:34. His overall place was 5,184 out of 31,805 runners, putting him in the top 16 percent. And he was 89th in his age group. It was his 11th marathon, but it was his first Boston Marathon. Although Eric runs year-round, he started following a 20-week training plan in December. His longest training run - 28 miles - came just four weeks before the marathon. After leaving Boston, he flew on to Pittsburgh, where he joined Valley Catholic School President Bob Weber, VCES Principal Joe Manning and VCES Librarian Shauna Jasperson at the 2014 conference of the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA). We congratulate Eric on his outstanding performance and thank him for so Valiantly representing our school and our campus.
