What do we expect ? My eyes just scanned over the headline about, I think it was 22 million dollars for automated lotto machines, approved. I think about the people Ive seen in long lines for numbers and cigarettes. I think about that racino thing and the enthusiasm for our recent casino saturation. Revenue for the state and maybe a few blood sucking corporate entities in the guise of entertainment. I can remember, maybe 40 years ago walking into, Ceasers Palace, it was the place back then and thinking, man this is what hell must sound like. The other thing that has me groping for reason this morning is I recently read that, I think the number was 43 million, baby boomers are caring for their older parents. I have found, in my case, caring to have changed everything. My world has narrowed considerably, I am becoming practiced at communicating in a world where dot connecting only leads to anger and frustration. I cant help but think that all across this nation, my peers, like we have done through our sheer numbers are introducing a new cultural meme where we begin to consider what our old age will do to our children. The idea of an organized bus ride to some casino leads me in only one direction. Jail. Id end up sniper like, camouflaged with a rifle to shoot out the tires of any bus they might try to load me in. That summer of love thing somehow got kidnapped, misdirected. Maybe, as we gently guide our parents down, maybe, well remember and learn to be kinder to our children... I wouldnt bet on it though !
