What do you all think about this woman getting weight loss surgery - TopicsExpress

What do you all think about this woman getting weight loss surgery on the NHS? Are her genetics making her morbidly obese or the fact shes a greedy bastard who is not willing to change!? Will it even help her long term? Weight loss surgery can cost up to £15,000 and with cuts in spending like we have at the moment, can you really justify that amount of money being spent on completely self inflicted conditions? Conditions which have come about through repeated bad decisions every single day. You dont wake up one day so fat you cant get out of bed..its a very gradual process. Personally I feel that a much better solution would be to pay to have these people put up in some massive house in the North of Scotland with some real health and fitness experts and chefs who can TEACH them how to cook healthy meals, how to eat, how to look after themselves, how to begin exercising. Also showing them whats in the junk they currently eat and what it does to the body. A bit like The Biggest Loser but with people who actually have a clue what theyre doing and with the emphasis on learning how to live long term rather than who can shift the most weight to win a prize. Make it 8 or 12 weeks and make it compulsory otherwise benefits get stopped. I find once people know, once they have that knowledge, its really hard to forget and good habits eventually stick. Something like this would cost a lot less than £15,000 a head and at least theyre armed with the knowledge going forward rather than getting a band inserted that leads to them simply building the amount of Malteasers they can eat from 3 back up to 700 in the space of a few months and coming back cap in hand looking for more when the band fails. What do you all think?
